Police DoorDash driver faces arson, DUI and hit-and-run charges after hitting tree in Lynnwood

Lynnwood, WALocal News

A DoorDash driver crashed his Toyota Yaris into a tree at a Lynnwood residence Wednesday night, prompting charges of second-degree arson, DUI, and hit-and-run. Witnesses reported that the driver, who was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine, ignited a cardboard box inside the vehicle after the collision. When officers arrived, they found the car fully engulfed in flames, leading Officer Baboucarr Hydara to use a fire extinguisher to put it out. The suspect fled on foot, discarding clothing items but was tracked down by K-9 officers. Drug recognition expert Brittany Orlosky observed clear indicators of drug influence during the arrest.

The incident raises significant questions about the implications of impaired driving while delivering food. Lynnwood police continue to address the dangers associated with drugged driving in the community. This case may prompt further discussions on public safety measures and delivery service regulations.
