Police DoorDash driver faces arson, DUI and hit-and-run charges after hitting tree in Lynnwood

A DoorDash driver crashed his Toyota Yaris into a tree at a Lynnwood residence Wednesday night, prompting charges of second-degree arson, DUI, and hit-and-run. Witnesses reported that the driver, who was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine, ignited a cardboard box inside the vehicle after the collision. When officers arrived, they found the car fully engulfed in flames, leading Officer Baboucarr Hydara to use a fire extinguisher to put it out. The suspect fled on foot, discarding clothing items but was tracked down by K-9 officers. Drug recognition expert Brittany Orlosky observed clear indicators of drug influence during the arrest.

The incident raises significant questions about the implications of impaired driving while delivering food.
