Roger James Bergh Served as Mountlake Terrace mayor in the 1990s

Roger James Bergh, the former mayor of Mountlake Terrace, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on March 23, 1937, in Olympia, Washington, he committed his life to civil engineering and public service. After serving in the U. S. Navy, Bergh spent decades with the Washington State Department of Transportation and later with Carter Burgess.

As mayor, he revitalized Mountlake Terrace, emphasizing economic growth and regional transportation initiatives such as the Cascade Gateway Rail Study. His leadership earned him recognition in the community, where he served on the City Council and various health and transportation boards. Bergh enjoyed family traditions, including visits to relatives' gravesites and sharing his love for roadside diners. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, as well as his stepson and stepdaughters. Bergh was laid to rest at Masonic Memorial Park in Tumwater, Washington.
