Public comments invited on Everett Link light rail extension

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Everett Link Extension DEIS proposes a 16-mile light rail project that aims to connect Snohomish County residents to the regional transit network, specifically linking Lynnwood, unincorporated Snohomish County, and Everett. The project plans to add seven new stations, enhancing access to public transportation in the region. One station, SR99/Airport Rd, has secured funding for planning but lacks funding for design and construction at this time. Community feedback is invited until August 28, focusing on project purpose, alternatives, and potential environmental impacts. This input will play a crucial role in shaping the Draft EIS, which Sound Transit will prepare in collaboration with the Federal Transit Administration.

Previous public comments collected during a 2023 SEPA scoping period will also be included in the EIS. Residents can engage with the project through the Everett Link Extension outreach website or by contacting Sound Transit via voicemail or mail. The initiative aims to improve regional connectivity and support local transit needs.
