Mountlake Terrace boy earns two medals at AAU Junior Olympics

Vincent Monica, an 11-year-old athlete from Mountlake Terrace, captured two medals at the 2025 AAU Junior Olympics held in Texas. He finished fourth in the discus event, competing against 60 participants, and secured seventh place in shot put among 79 competitors in his age group. Monica earned his spot at the national event by excelling at the AAU West Coast Track & Field Championship, where he achieved first in discus and second in shot put in June. His father, Tony Monica, who trains him, shared that the trip to the Junior Olympics created lifelong memories for the family. The Junior Olympics is a prestigious platform for young athletes, emphasizing the importance of early competition in sports development.
