Snohomish County Parks and Recreation Division has secured over $1. 6 million in grants for extensive park improvements across the county. The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office awarded a $500,000 Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account grant for the Flowing Lake Dock and Waterfront Access Project. This initiative aims to replace an old floating dock and enhance accessibility for kayaking, fishing, and swimming. In addition, a $681,175 grant will support the expansion of Martha Lake Park, focusing on improving access and increasing parking capacity.

Parks Director Sharon Walker highlighted the significance of these grants in making park spaces safer and more inclusive for the community. The Healthy Kids Initiative Grant will also provide matching funds, effectively doubling the playground equipment budget for two parks. Community input is sought through online surveys to gather feedback on the planned playground designs. These enhancements aim to foster a more engaging and welcoming outdoor experience for residents.
