Aug. 29 marks final day to apply for 2025 SUN Bucks program
More than 533,000 children in Washington have received nearly $64 million in SUN Bucks food benefits this summer, a program designed to enhance access to food during the summer months. The Department of Social and Health Services has partnered with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction to distribute these benefits, which provide $120 for each eligible child. Applications for additional benefits will be accepted until Aug. 29, 2025, for families that didn’t qualify automatically. To qualify, children must either belong to households receiving SNAP or TANF or attend schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program.
Eligible households can apply online in both English and Spanish. Families are urged to participate in local food programs, including grab-n-go meals, in addition to receiving SUN Bucks. The program serves as a critical resource for food security among children during the summer. Assistance is available through the SUN Bucks Contact Center for families needing help with the application process.
