Weekend travel alert Multiple highway closures across central Puget Sound July 25-28

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced significant highway closures impacting central Puget Sound from July 25 to July 28. Southbound State Route 167 in Kent will close overnight for bridge joint replacement and resurfacing, affecting access to Interstate 405. Additionally, eastbound State Route 18 in Auburn will undergo paving during the same period, further complicating travel. Northbound Interstate 5 will have lane reductions across the Ship Canal Bridge until August 15 for ongoing preservation work. WSDOT urges travelers to plan ahead, allowing extra time for potential delays on major routes.

The agency’s Emergency Operations Center will assist in keeping traffic moving during these closures. With limited warm, dry weather, WSDOT must coordinate these projects effectively to improve infrastructure. All work is contingent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary.
