Foundation for Edmonds School District awards 250K in postsecondary scholarships

The Foundation for Edmonds School District awarded $250,000 in scholarships to 84 graduating seniors from Edmonds Heights K-12 and five other high schools. Amitha Thomas received the $10,000 Innovation Scholarship for her initiative in establishing the Science National Honors Society, promoting inclusivity in STEM education. In total, the foundation distributed 103 donor-funded scholarships to aid students in vocational and academic pursuits. Notable scholarships included the Hazel and Morris Miller Memorial Scholarships, valued at $2,500-$5,000, and the Martha Lake Community/Lynnwood Rotary Club scholarship, also ranging from $2,500-$5,000. Deborah Brandi, Executive Director of the Foundation, highlighted the students' hard work and the vital role of community support in making these scholarships possible.

Claire August received the Bumgarner Family Trust Scholarship, while Grace Le earned the William Anderson III Memorial Scholarship. The initiative reflects the Foundation's commitment to supporting educational opportunities for local youth. The scholarships play a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic and career aspirations.
