Travel delays coming to Icicle Road in April due to repair project

Leavenworth, WALocal News

A significant repair project on Icicle Road #7600 near Leavenworth is set to begin on April 7, 2025, resulting in notable travel delays for those visiting the Icicle River corridor recreation area. The project addresses chronic rockfall issues and aims to improve road safety along a challenging mountain route. The affected section runs from mileposts 4 to 5, which includes access to important recreational sites like the Snow Lakes Trailhead and Eightmile Campground. During weekdays, the road will be closed to non-emergency vehicles during peak hours, with a brief midday window allowing for one-way traffic. Overnight access will remain available, while weekends will have no restrictions, providing some relief for travelers.

The Federal Highways Administration, in collaboration with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, is overseeing the project. Ranger Erica Taecker advises travelers to stay informed and plan ahead due to the impact on local traffic patterns. For more information, visitors can contact the Wenatchee River Ranger District at (509) 548-2550.
