Chelan County reduces days of operations at the Leavenworth brush drop-off site on East Leavenworth Road

Leavenworth, WALocal News

Chelan County has announced a significant change to the operational days of the Leavenworth brush drop-off site, now set to operate bi-weekly on Fridays. This decision responds to the site's ongoing financial struggles, averaging only two customers per hour, which has made it challenging to cover operational costs. Eric Pierson, director of Chelan County Public Works, emphasized the need for this adjustment to avoid passing on increased costs to users. The drop-off site will continue to operate from 9 a. m.

to 3 p. m. , with disposal fees remaining at $25 per cubic yard. Additionally, residents have an alternative option at Winton Manufacturing, which accepts yard waste six days a week for just $15 for loads under 400 pounds. The upcoming operational dates for the Chelan County drop-off site include July 12, July 26, and subsequent dates leading into October.

This change reflects a broader trend in local services adapting to economic realities while trying to meet community needs. For any inquiries, residents can contact Chelan County Public Works – Solid Waste at (509) 667-6591.
