TREAD names James Munly recipient of 2025 Bob Parlette Award
James Munly has been honored with the 2025 Bob Parlette Award for his exceptional outdoor recreation advocacy in Leavenworth. TREAD, a nonprofit focused on sustainable outdoor recreation, established this award to recognize individuals who create lasting legacies through public service. Nominated by Maggie Richter and Mic McLane, Munly has significantly improved local ski operations and mountain bike trails over his ten years of service. Richter praised his community impact, noting his involvement in helping children learn to ski and organizing trail work parties. McLane acknowledged Munly as a founding member of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance's Central chapter, emphasizing his role in fostering relationships with land managers.
Munly received the award at TREAD's 4th Quarter Ex Officio Roundtable meeting, where Linda Evans Parlette honored her late husband’s legacy. Previous recipients include Matt Rose, Ken Paton, Al Murphy, and Diane Priebe. Munly's dedication to outdoor stewardship has made a lasting mark on North Central Washington.
