Cleos Cupboard keeps hospital fundraising legacy alive, seeks sustained support
Cleo’s Cupboard at Cascade Medical Center is a handmade gift bar that has supported hospital fundraising for nearly 60 years. The Hilfreiche Hausfrauen, established in 1968, has raised approximately $1,600 annually for essential medical equipment and supplies. Genevieve Smith, a member since 1989, explained that the group selects items from a “dream list” provided by the hospital based on its budget constraints. Notable past purchases include a baby scale and a blood warmer, vital for patient care. Sandy Houston, a community member, is committed to preserving Cleo Fulwiler’s legacy, a founding member of the group.
Cleo’s Cupboard seeks new homemade items to maintain its inventory, which currently includes knitted hats and blankets. The gift bar is open year-round, with all funds directly benefiting the hospital. Donations can be made at the Cascade Medical Center reception desk to help support ongoing medical needs.
