City Mourns Passing of WA Sen. Bill Ramos

State Senator Bill Ramos, a prominent advocate for the Issaquah community, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2025, at the age of 69. Representing the 5th Legislative District since 2019, he was known for his impactful work on transportation policy, equity, and environmental issues. Before his Senate tenure, Ramos served on the Issaquah City Council from 2016 to 2019, where he focused on thoughtful growth and transportation improvements. Mayor Mary Lou Pauly expressed deep sorrow over his loss, emphasizing his role as a mentor and friend. A moment of silence will be observed at the Issaquah City Council meeting on April 21, followed by additional recognition at a later date.

Ramos' legacy includes his contributions to local governance and policy debates informed by his background in forestry and public lands management. He is survived by his wife, King County Councilmember Sarah Perry, and their two children, Maya and Max. His community advocacy and leadership will be remembered as a significant part of Issaquah's history.
