Assisting in a Pursuit, High-Tech Fraud, and Local Mischief This Weeks Issaquah Police Blotter
A police pursuit of a stolen black Mazda SUV began when Issaquah officers observed the vehicle matching the description of a car involved in a theft at a local outlet store. The chase, which lasted about 9½ minutes and covered over 13 miles, concluded when officers decided to terminate it for public safety due to reckless driving in downtown Seattle. Officers continue to collaborate with Snoqualmie police to identify the three suspects involved in the theft. In a separate incident, a manager at Best Buy reported a sophisticated fraudulent purchase involving a high-end HP Voco computer. An unknown male used stolen identification to secure approval for the $2,040 transaction, which led to further scrutiny when the cardholder noticed fraudulent charges.
The cardholder reported approximately $1,709 in unauthorized transactions and has closed their account. Surveillance footage has been reviewed to identify the suspect, who was seen leaving in a silver vehicle. These incidents highlight ongoing issues with theft and fraud in the Issaquah area.
