The City Nature Challenge, scheduled for April 25-28, 2025, encourages Issaquah residents to engage with their local environment by documenting wildlife. This initiative, in partnership with the Woodland Park Zoo, aims to promote biodiversity awareness and community participation. Participants can log their observations using the iNaturalist app, making it an accessible and user-friendly experience. The event does not require formal participation, allowing anyone to contribute simply by taking photos of local plants and animals. Additionally, guided hikes led by Green Issaquah and the Issaquah Alps Trails Club will take place on April 25 and during the Sustainability Fair on April 26.

These hikes offer a chance to explore the Issaquah Alps while learning about local ecosystems from experienced guides. This event is an excellent opportunity for community members to connect with nature and each other, fostering a sense of stewardship for the environment. Ultimately, the City Nature Challenge not only highlights the rich biodiversity of the area but also strengthens community bonds through shared exploration.
