Issaquah School District Celebrates Inaugural Season of Girls' Flag Football

The Issaquah School District has proudly celebrated the remarkable success of its inaugural girls' flag football season, which saw participation soar to 143 student-athletes from Issaquah, Skyline, and Liberty high schools. This impressive figure almost doubled the previous year's participation in winter sports among girls, showcasing a growing interest in athletics. Coaches contributed significantly by creating a competitive yet nurturing atmosphere, allowing the athletes to excel. All three teams qualified for the playoffs, with Skyline making a particularly impressive run to the regional round. The enthusiasm and dedication of the student-athletes were palpable throughout the season, setting a strong foundation for the sport's future.

Flag Football has been officially adopted as a KingCo sport and is under consideration for WIAA status next year. The community's support has proven crucial in making this inaugural season a resounding success. Looking ahead, the excitement surrounding girls' flag football indicates a promising future for the sport in the Issaquah School District.
