Lexi Yuen, a senior at Issaquah High School, has been named the March Volunteer of the Month for her outstanding leadership on the Highlands Youth Advisory Board, where she serves as co-president. With her guidance, the board has successfully organized community events, including the anticipated Middle School Flashlight Egg Hunt, fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are heard. In her reflections, Lexi noted that her family was drawn to Issaquah Highlands early in its development due to its numerous recreational opportunities and community-centric design. She enjoys exploring the various trails and parks in the area, discovering hidden gems like the telescope near the retention pond. Lexi's journey into volunteering began at a sixth-grade birthday party, which included a memorable community event, motivating her to create similar experiences for others.

As she grew more involved, Lexi transitioned from a hesitant newcomer to the co-president of the HY Board, expressing gratitude for the supportive environment that allowed her to learn and thrive. Her story exemplifies the positive impact of community engagement and the importance of leadership among youth. Lexi's commitment to service not only enriches her life but also strengthens the fabric of her community.
