Energizing the Future PSE Expands Community Solar in King County

Issaquah, WALocal News

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) plans to launch multiple community solar arrays in King County by 2025, significantly enhancing access to renewable energy. The four new projects, located in Auburn, Kent (two sites), and Renton, will add over one megawatt of solar capacity, sufficient to power approximately 150 households annually. According to PSE's Chief Customer and Transformation Officer, Aaron August, the initiative opens clean energy options for renters and those without installation capabilities. Participants can purchase shares in the solar arrays, supporting clean energy while also funding projects for nonprofits and affordable housing. The program eliminates installation costs and maintenance concerns, offering a straightforward path for customers to engage with renewable energy.

This expansion contributes to PSE's Clean Energy Implementation Plan and its goals for energy capacity. PSE aims to provide flexible options for customers wishing to reduce their carbon footprints. The initiative reflects PSE's ongoing commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio and facilitating the transition to cleaner energy sources.
