Highlands Council proudly recognizes eight local teens for their exemplary volunteer service in 2024, contributing to a collective total of over 1,700 hours from more than 125 volunteers in the Issaquah Highlands community. A special ceremony will take place on January 12 to honor these young individuals who have demonstrated remarkable dedication. The President’s Volunteer Service Award, managed in collaboration with AmeriCorps and Points of Light, enables organizations to acknowledge exceptional volunteers based on their service over the previous year. Lily Pinkston and Haley Lim stand out as Gold Award recipients, illustrating the profound impact of youth involvement in community initiatives. Volunteer experiences have helped these teens develop valuable skills, foster connections, and promote diversity within their community.

The award program, established in 2003, seeks to motivate individuals nationwide to engage in service and improve their communities. Recognizing the achievements of these young volunteers emphasizes the importance of civic responsibility among teens and illustrates the positive influence of volunteerism. This initiative not only honors their contributions but also aims to inspire others to take action and get involved.
