Pedestrian Park and Senior Center Plaza Project Overview

Issaquah, WALocal News

The Pedestrian Park and Senior Center Plaza project is a vital part of Issaquah's Anchor Parks Project, which has been in development since 2019. Securing $4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the initiative aims to enhance community spaces with a focus on multigenerational connectivity. In 2023, extensive community input and collaboration with the Park Board helped shape the project’s design themes. The park will feature cascading water elements, sinuous planter areas, and distinct seating arrangements, all inspired by Issaquah's natural valley terrain. This thoughtful design aims to create inviting spaces that encourage interaction among residents of all ages.

The bid and award processes have been completed, with construction scheduled to begin in early December 2024. This project represents a significant investment in local infrastructure and a commitment to enhancing community engagement and well-being, with improvements to the Senior Center and its plaza serving as a vibrant gateway to Veterans Memorial Park.
