Issaquah Meals Program Celebrates 35 Years of Service

Issaquah, WALocal News

The Issaquah Meals program has been serving the community of Issaquah for 35 years, providing nightly meals from Monday to Friday at the Community Hall located at 180 E. Sunset Way. Founded in 1989 at the request of local churches and the city, the initiative began as a bi-weekly program and has since expanded to accommodate more individuals in need. With a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere, the program ensures that guests feel safe and supported, with a site leader available each night for assistance. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the program has adapted its operations by implementing safety protocols, such as requiring masks and encouraging hand hygiene.

Guests have the flexibility to dine in or take meals to go, with service commencing at 5 p. m. and closing at 6 p. m. The program is sustained by dedicated volunteers from various community organizations, families, and local faith groups.

For those wishing to contribute, donations can be mailed to Catholic Community Services in Seattle. The Issaquah Meals program continues to be a critical resource for food security in the region.
