Salmon SEEson Riparian Tour of Issaquah Creek

Issaquah, WALocal News

The Issaquah Alps Trails Club (IATC) invites residents to participate in a guided hike on September 27, 2024, along the Pickering Reach of Issaquah Creek. Led by Dan Hintz, the Urban Forest Supervisor with the City of Issaquah, the hike will focus on the significance of healthy riparian buffers for local wildlife, particularly salmon. Participants will explore the native plants in the area and learn about the city's ongoing efforts to conserve and restore vital habitats for threatened Chinook salmon populations. This event is particularly timely as it aligns with broader environmental initiatives aimed at preserving local ecosystems. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with conservation efforts and understand how they can contribute to restoring habitats along Issaquah Creek.

Registration is required to participate, and pets are not allowed to ensure a focused experience. The event underscores the importance of community involvement in environmental stewardship. Through educational programs like this, Issaquah continues to foster a culture of sustainability and ecological awareness.
