Issaquah, WALocal News

The Trailhead Direct service is set to return for the 2024 season, offering transit options from Seattle and the Issaquah Transit Center to various popular hiking trails in the Issaquah Alps from May 25 to September 15. This initiative, launched as a pilot project in 2017, aims to enhance access to outdoor recreational areas while addressing parking and safety concerns at trailheads. The service will operate on weekends and holidays, providing stops at notable locations such as Margaret’s Way, Chirico Trail-Poo Poo Point, Squak Mountain, and more. With a convenient start and end point at Mount Baker Transit Center, passengers can also access the Issaquah Transit Center. The program encourages the use of public transportation to reduce congestion and promote sustainable outdoor recreation.

Fare options are designed to be affordable, with adults paying $2. 75 off-peak, and free access for youth aged 18 and under. Additionally, all vehicles in the Trailhead Direct service are wheelchair accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all hikers. For more information, route details are available online.
