Energizing the Future PSE Announces Reliability, Capacity Upgrades for Issaquah

Issaquah, WALocal News

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is constructing the Grand Ridge substation in Issaquah Highlands to improve energy reliability and capacity for around 40,000 residents and businesses. Customers in the area face longer and more frequent outages due to the current grid's inefficiencies and dense vegetation. The new substation will utilize an underground distribution system, significantly reducing the likelihood of outages caused by falling trees. This upgrade will also enhance the flexibility of the power grid, allowing PSE to reroute power more efficiently during outages or high-demand periods. The site, located on Park Drive near the Bonneville Power Administration transmission corridor, minimizes changes to the surrounding area and leverages existing infrastructure.

PSE is currently in the design and permitting phase, with plans to keep the community informed through project updates. This initiative not only addresses immediate energy needs but also prepares Issaquah for future growth. PSE's efforts underscore its commitment to providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions to the community.
