Pug Patrol A Neighborhood Comes Together
In late August, Jennifer Hope Kellum and Mason Kelley noticed their 17. 5-year-old puggle, Griffey, was missing after he escaped through a small opening in their fenced yard. The family dedicated six hours to searching their Talus neighborhood and utilized social media platforms like Nextdoor to spread the word. Their efforts included creating posters and engaging local cheerleaders and neighbors to help in the search. The following day, a man named Peter found Griffey near SR 900 and contacted the family after seeing a sign they had posted.
The community's involvement was significant, with many residents volunteering to comb the streets and check local parks. Jennifer highlighted the emotional toll of potentially losing Griffey, stating, “The kindness got to me. ” Ultimately, the family celebrated Griffey's return, which was shared extensively on social media, highlighting the community's spirit. The incident reinforced the importance of neighborly support in times of distress.
