Salmon Days Parade Marches through History
The Salmon Days Parade began in 1970, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the annual Salmon Days festival in Issaquah. Initially featuring children and their costumed pets, the event has evolved to include local bands, scouting groups, and a variety of community floats. The 1988 balloon release incident, where a balloon traveled to Nebraska, exemplifies the festival's power to connect communities. Notable grand marshals over the years have included tribal elder Leona Eddy in 1992 and local authors Harvey Manning and Harriet Fish in 1987. The parade has also gained international attention, featuring performances from a musical group from Lich, Germany, in 2000.
This year, the parade will occur on October 4 at 10 a. m. , starting from Confluence Park, and aims to celebrate local culture and community spirit. The event continues to resonate with residents, showcasing the evolution of a beloved local tradition. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant display of local talent and civic pride.
