Building Community Resilience Through Preparedness

Issaquah, WALocal News

Community members in Issaquah Highlands are actively enhancing emergency preparedness in response to a 99. 7% risk of natural hazards, as reported by FEMA. The Blakely Hall Resilience Hub Task Force is focused on creating an operational plan to guide emergency services in the area. Their priorities include ensuring generator power availability, building a trained volunteer team, and stocking essential supplies for crises. Residents are encouraged to participate in workshops and join the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to improve local readiness.

Even basic preparations can help maintain normalcy during power outages and potentially save lives in major disasters. Issaquah Highlands aims to foster a culture of readiness, emphasizing individual and collective responsibility. As the initiative progresses, updates on the Resilience Hub's services will be shared with the community. Engaging in these efforts will help create a more prepared and connected community.
