Roadwork Coming Valley View Place SW and Wildwood Blvd SW

Issaquah, WALocal News

A sinkhole at Valley View Place SW and Wildwood Blvd SW will undergo repairs starting September 15 due to an abandoned mine shaft beneath Squak Mountain. The United States Department of the Interior will lead the restoration, which entails relocating utilities and reconstructing the roadway entrance. The project will occur in three phases, with traffic reduced to one lane and possible short-term full closures. City officials confirmed that while there is no immediate risk to the community, the ground will continue to settle if repairs are not conducted. The first phase, focusing on city water and sewer relocation, will run until October 17 and may cause water interruptions lasting up to six hours.

The second phase will involve gas utility relocation by Puget Sound Energy in early October. The final phase will repair the sinkhole from late October to late November, coordinated with the city. Residents can reach out to Project Manager Tony Nguyen for further inquiries.
