Issaquah Recognized for Humanitarian Assistance to Sister City

Sister Cities International recognized Issaquah’s Sister City Commission for its humanitarian aid to Chefchaouen, Morocco, after recent earthquakes devastated the region. The Issaquah community demonstrated remarkable generosity, raising over $65,000 and sending more than 60 boxes of clothing, medical supplies, and essential items. These contributions not only addressed immediate needs but also supported longer-term recovery efforts for the residents of Chefchaouen. This recognition highlights the collaborative spirit of the Issaquah community and its commitment to assisting their sister city in times of crisis. Issaquah has been sister cities with Chefchaouen since 2006 and with Sunndal, Norway, since 1991.

Sister Cities International promotes people-to-people connections worldwide, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian assistance. The recognition serves as a testament to the innovative efforts made by local community members in their outreach.
