Downtown Issaquah Story Stroll Depicts Dumpling Dreams

Issaquah, WALocal News

The Downtown Issaquah Association has partnered with the Issaquah Library to present the interactive Story Stroll™, featuring the inspiring tale of Joyce Chen, a Chinese chef who changed America's culinary landscape. Running from September 5 to October 5, 2025, the event invites families to read and explore local businesses simultaneously. The story, told through Carrie Clickard’s playful rhymes, recounts Chen's journey from Communist China to the U. S. , where she popularized Chinese cuisine.

Katy Wu's illustrations bring the narrative to life, enhancing the story's appeal. DIA President Christina Bruning noted the tale's ability to engage and delight audiences of all ages, emphasizing its cultural significance. This initiative not only promotes literacy but also encourages community interaction and support for local businesses. The Story Stroll™ serves as a unique blend of education and entertainment, fostering cultural appreciation. Participants can view a map of the stroll to guide their experience.
