Monsters Inspire Middle Schooler to Create Game

Issaquah, WALocal News

Issaquah's Palash B. , a seventh grader, created the game Ultramons, which won the 2024 Senior Most Engaging Winner at the Young Inventor Challenge. The game features colorful monster cards and allows for 2-4 players, targeting ages 7 and older. A Kickstarter campaign raised $13,000 to manufacture the game, which has been available for about a month. Palash's journey began when his family's board games were delayed during a move to Seattle, prompting him to design a new game during the pandemic.

He utilized software like Procreate to enhance his characters, which belong to various monster families such as fire and nature. His parents actively participated in refining the game, providing feedback and encouragement. Palash emphasizes the importance of considering feedback and maintaining determination for young inventors. He is currently developing another game idea centered around cats and dogs.
