Tools, Threats, and a Dumpster The IPD Police Blotter

Issaquah, WALocal News

Issaquah police detained a man making threats with a makeshift weapon behind a business on Highlands Drive, where he was found inside a dumpster. Witnesses reported his aggressive behavior and direct threats toward staff, leading to his detention without incident. A large stick and a knife were recovered as evidence, and the subject was medically evaluated before being taken to jail. The King County Prosecutor's Office later declined felony charges, opting for a local citation for harassment instead. Separately, officers conducted a welfare check on a man slumped over in a vehicle with open alcohol containers visible.

He was responsive when approached and declined medical assistance, leading officers to determine he had not been operating the vehicle. His keys were secured at the police department for safekeeping, and a family member was called to pick him up. These incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding public safety and substance-related issues in Issaquah.
