Sen. Bill Ramos, a key figure in Washington’s 5th Legislative District, passed away unexpectedly in April 2025, deeply affecting the community he served. He began his political career on the Issaquah City Council in 2016 and later represented the district in the State Legislature, advocating for clean energy and affordable housing. His dedication to youth in the Issaquah Highlands was evident through his mentorship, inspiring students like Lara Sharp, who participated in the Senate Page Program. Lindsey Pinkston, executive director of Highlands Council, highlighted Ramos's unwavering support for community initiatives.

Following his death, the King County Council appointed Victoria Hunt to succeed him in the Senate, ensuring the continuation of his public service legacy.
