2025 State of the Great Park

Irvine Councilmember Mike Carroll revealed ambitious plans for the Great Park during the “State of the Great Park” event held on May 6th. The park will soon welcome The Canopy, a new retail and dining area featuring the T&T supermarket and various restaurants, addressing residents' desires for local amenities. Additionally, the park will include a Veterans Memorial Park & Gardens to honor military service members and a museum in the historic El Toro air traffic control tower. Carroll highlighted the park's future features, including lakes, a large outdoor amphitheater, and a cultural terrace with several museums. The planned aerial transport system aims to alleviate traffic congestion, enhancing mobility within the park.

The Great Park will ultimately span over 1,300 acres, doubling the size of Central Park. Residents who pay a special Mello-Roos tax are particularly enthusiastic about these developments, as they will improve their local experience. These enhancements reflect the city's commitment to creating a vibrant community space.
