Same-Day Solar Permits

Irvine, CALocal News

The City of Irvine has introduced same-day permitting for solar energy systems through the PermitsDIRECT! platform, enhancing local sustainability efforts. Licensed contractors can now obtain permits for single-family residential solar and battery storage systems instantly. The platform automatically verifies compliance with building codes and issues permits in real time. In addition to solar permits, it provides access to minor residential and commercial permits for maintenance and replacements.

This move eliminates the need for contractors to visit the Irvine Civic Center, promoting efficiency in the permitting process. The initiative supports Irvine's goal of increasing solar energy adoption and reducing carbon emissions. Local officials anticipate that this streamlined process will encourage more residents to invest in renewable energy. As a result, the city aims to create a greener and more sustainable community.
