Irvine teen shot, killed at friend's house 1 arrested

In a heartbreaking incident in Irvine, California, a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed while visiting a friend's house. The firearm involved belonged to 56-year-old Christian Douglas Yeager, who has been arrested on suspicion of criminal storage of a firearm and child endangerment. First responders from the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at around 2:45 p. m. on March 27.

Despite their efforts, the boy succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Initially, investigators believed the case could be a suicide, but they are still working to clarify the circumstances. The victim was not a resident of the home where he was shot and was there with two friends. Police discovered the gun was unsecured, sitting loaded on a nightstand in Yeager's bedroom, along with several other unsecured firearms. The ongoing investigation aims to determine if the shooting was accidental or intentional, raising significant concerns about firearm safety in homes with children.
