Mayor Larry Agran promotes civic engagement by hosting monthly meetings at City Hall, inviting Irvine residents to discuss key city initiatives such as the tree-planting program and the new Irvine Public Library System. During these informal gatherings, Agran provides updates and engages in one-on-one discussions with community members. Residents can also attend City Council meetings, held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 4 p. m. , to address their concerns during public comment periods.

These meetings are broadcast live on Cox Communications Local Access Channel 30 and streamed through ICTV for broader access. Participants can voice their opinions in person, via Zoom, or by phone, making it easier for residents to engage in local governance.
