UCI Wants Your Help in Saving Pedestrian Lives

Irvine, CALocal News

UCI’s Center for Trauma & Injury Prevention Research (CTIPR) launches an initiative to gather community input on pedestrian hazards in Irvine. Every 70 minutes, a pedestrian dies in America, emphasizing the need for action. Funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, CTIPR encourages residents to report unsafe intersections and poorly lit corners through an online form. The team will investigate submissions and collaborate with city officials to ensure safety issues are addressed. This initiative aims to reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities, creating a safer environment for walkers.

Local knowledge is invaluable in identifying potential dangers before tragedies occur. Historical data shows that community involvement can significantly impact traffic safety measures. By engaging residents, CTIPR seeks to foster a culture of safety and awareness in Irvine.
