Goldendale Police Pursue and Arrest Suspects Following Vehicle Chase

A dramatic vehicle pursuit unfolded in Goldendale, Washington, on February 15, 2020, when Officer Stelljes attempted to stop a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta for an equipment violation. The driver ignored the stop, prompting a chase that included dangerous driving behaviors such as swerving and failing to stop at intersections. Officer Mike Kenny joined the pursuit, which concluded with the suspects abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Officers Stelljes and Kenny successfully apprehended Adam Bronson and Christopher Wirshup, both of whom had outstanding warrants from the Department of Corrections. A K9 unit, led by Officer Berkshire, discovered illegal narcotics in the vehicle after a positive alert from the narcotic detection dog, Harley.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police plan to submit charges to the Klickitat County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Chief Bartkowski praised the effectiveness of the officers' nighttime patrols, highlighting their proactive approach to law enforcement. This incident underscores the importance of vigilant policing in maintaining community safety.
