Goldendale, WALocal News

Klickitat Valley Health (KVH) has achieved a significant milestone by earning the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® certification, scoring an outstanding 97 out of 100. This achievement places KVH in the elite top 3% of healthcare facilities nationwide for energy performance. The certification underscores the importance of energy efficiency in protecting the environment, a sentiment echoed by Cindy Jacobs, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch.

Since 2017, KVH has undertaken numerous energy-saving initiatives, which include a full conversion to LED lighting and the installation of high-efficiency motors in air handling systems. Looking ahead to 2025, KVH is set to launch additional projects, such as a new Central Utility Plant featuring advanced chillers and condensing boilers. These enhancements are expected to further reduce operating costs and improve the Energy Utilization Index, reflecting the hospital's commitment to sustainability. Jonathan Lewis, Director of Support Services, expressed pride in the team's efforts to achieve superior energy performance.
