The board received 411 applications requesting more than $266 million, showcasing the high demand for funding. Key projects in Klickitat County include a conservation easement for 256 acres of prime farmland and the purchase of 2,800 acres of oak woodland habitat.
These initiatives aim to protect vital agricultural land and wildlife habitats, ensuring the preservation of Washington's outdoor legacy. The grants also contribute to the health benefits of outdoor activities, improving physical and mental well-being for residents. As Washington's population grows, these conservation efforts are critical for maintaining the state's natural resources.
