Klickitat County secured $618,000 for courthouse rehabilitation, accompanied by a local match of $429,579, highlighting community investment in infrastructure. Jeff Hunter from Public Works clarified the funding breakdown, with $314,579 allocated for HVAC upgrades and $100,000 for jury room renovations. This grant, part of a competitive Historic County Courthouse Grant program, saw Klickitat County ranked second out of 14 applicants. The funding will also address exterior repairs and ensure ADA compliance in jury facilities, enhancing accessibility. Hunter emphasized the county's successful history with this grant program, which has funded various courthouse upgrades, including roofing and courtroom remodels.

The 25-27 Biennium grant aims to improve both functionality and aesthetics of the courthouse. This investment is part of a larger $7. 6 billion funding initiative, with $15. 4 million allocated for projects in the 17th Legislative District. Other notable projects include funding for local firefighters and critical hospital infrastructure.
