Police arrest teen suspect in December purse-snatchings

Gig Harbor Police have successfully arrested a 16-year-old suspect believed to be responsible for two purse-snatchings in December, leading to serious injuries for one victim. Officers took the suspect into custody outside his home in Federal Way, where he was subsequently booked into the King County Juvenile Detention Center. The charges being considered include robbery and financial fraud, stemming from the use of the victims’ stolen credit cards. The police department is also investigating a third purse-snatching incident that occurred at Costco, with forensic evidence being analyzed to establish a connection to the suspect. In total, three purse-snatchings were reported in early to mid-December, raising concerns in the community.

The cooperation of police departments from Bellevue and Renton has been instrumental in this investigation. Chief Kelly Busey noted that the suspect is also a person of interest in multiple robberies across Bellevue and the greater King County area. This case highlights ongoing issues related to theft and community safety, prompting increased vigilance among local residents.
