City of Gig Harbor Planning Public Notices

Gig Harbor, WALocal News

The City of Gig Harbor is advancing a project proposal to plat two undeveloped parcels totaling 38. 63 acres into 31 single-family lots. This development faces considerable challenges due to the presence of four onsite wetlands and one offsite wetland, which, along with the site's topography, restrict the available area for development. To accommodate the project, the applicant is requesting alternatives to design review standards, specifically seeking approval for an increased cut and fill quantity of up to 60,000 cubic yards and a reduction of the transition buffer from 40 feet to 25 feet. A public meeting is scheduled for April 24, 2025, at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, where interested parties can gather information about the proposal.

Although public testimony will not be taken, attendees can provide written comments, which are due by April 23, 2025. Pertinent documents regarding the application will be available for review at the City Planning Division. Questions can be directed to Senior Planner Jeremy Hammar, ensuring transparency in the process. This development proposal underscores the balance between urban growth and environmental conservation.
