Developer for proposed housing project on Dickson St. sues Fayetteville
Trinitas Ventures filed a lawsuit against Fayetteville on May 30 after the City Council rejected their housing development proposal on Dickson Street. The planned project included a 185-unit, seven-story building intended for University of Arkansas students. On April 14, city planning commissioners voted 4-3 to deny the project, citing concerns about traffic and the surrounding area's character. Following a failed appeal on May 20, where the City Council voted 3-4 against the project, Trinitas claimed the city did not follow its Unified Development Code. This code outlines specific grounds for denying development plans, including traffic hazards and ordinance violations.
The developers request the court to rule that the city's denial was invalid and to grant them a building permit. They also seek compensatory damages and attorney's fees. The law firm representing Trinitas confirmed that the lawsuit will proceed.
