Gage Wood returns from injury as Arkansas baseball changes weekend rotation for Texas AM

Fort Smith, ARSports

Arkansas baseball has made a significant adjustment to its weekend pitching rotation, with Gage Wood taking over as the game two starter against Texas A&M. Wood returns from a shoulder injury that has kept him out since February 23, replacing Gabe Gaeckle, who has struggled this season with a 2-1 record and a 6. 69 ERA. Gaeckle's recent outing included a disappointing performance where he allowed five runs in two innings during a narrow loss to Georgia. Following this, head coach Dave Van Horn indicated a need for a rotation adjustment.

Gaeckle will revert to the bullpen, where he previously thrived with seven saves and a 2. 32 ERA last spring. Wood began the season as Arkansas' Sunday starter, achieving a 2. 57 ERA before his injury. The Razorbacks currently hold a strong record of 33-5 and sit at 12-3 in SEC play.

This strategic change reflects the team's efforts to optimize their pitching lineup as they prepare for the crucial series against Texas A&M.
