After streak broke earlier this week, Womack supports Epstein transparency bill in absence
Rep. Steve Womack missed his first vote since taking office in 2011 due to a family medical emergency. He was absent for the vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which he stated he would have supported. The bill passed the House with a vote of 427-1, requiring the Department of Justice to publish unclassified records related to Jeffrey Epstein's crimes. Womack emphasized the need for government transparency and accountability, with his intended vote entered into the Congressional Record.
Other Arkansas House members voted in favor of the bill, which includes provisions for disclosing documents related to Ghislaine Maxwell and flight logs. The act was initially introduced in July and faced delays before reaching the House floor. Following its passage, the bill now moves to the Senate for consideration. Womack's voting streak, lasting nearly 15 years, has ended due to this unforeseen family issue.
