Five finance students from Arkansas Tech University attended the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium Conference in Chicago on October 9-10, where they explored global economic factors and investment strategies. Junior Adrian Falcon expressed that the trip provided a new perspective on the unpredictability of the economy and the importance of managing risk. The delegation participated in sessions with Federal Reserve economists and executives from significant financial firms, gaining practical insights into real-world applications of classroom theories. They also engaged in a portfolio-building competition simulating investment management decisions. Falcon highlighted a keynote address by Fredrick J.

Crawford of Aflac Inc. , who shared insights on navigating financial crises, particularly Japan's 2007 deflation crisis. The visit included tours of notable financial institutions and cultural landmarks in Chicago, enhancing their educational experience. Dr. Peng “Roc” Huang emphasized the value of attending such conferences for exchanging ideas and learning best practices from peers.
