Arkansas woman pleads guilty to public intoxication under a friend's name, police say

Fort Smith, ARLocal News

Crystal Osborn, an Arkansas resident, pleaded guilty to public intoxication on November 4 after using her friend's identity during her arrest on October 17. Initially, she was fined $240 and sentenced to 30 days of probation, along with 24 hours of community service. Osborn failed to complete the required hours and did not pass a drug test, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for her friend. The friend, unaware of the situation, took action to clear her name by informing the Van Buren Police Department. Officers reviewed the body cam footage and confirmed that Osborn had misrepresented herself during the arrest.

In addition to her public intoxication charge, Osborn now faces 11 charges of forgery and one charge of nonfinancial identity fraud. Her bond for these additional charges was set at $35,000. This case highlights issues of identity misuse and the legal consequences that can arise from such actions.
