Tracking road conditions in Northwest Arkansas

Fort Smith, ARLocal News

Heavy rain leads to widespread traffic issues across Northwest Arkansas, especially on Interstate 49. A semi-truck accident closed the right northbound lane at exit 69 by 12:30 p. m. , with additional reports of accidents south of West Fork and in Fayetteville. Valerie Zhang from 40/29 noted slow-moving traffic in Rogers and standing water on roads around Fayetteville, Springdale, and Bentonville.

Two active accidents on I-49 affected traffic near Mile Markers 87. 4 and 62. Officials have increased staffing in anticipation of flooding, which has been a concern in the area. Local authorities emphasize the importance of cautious driving in these conditions. The heavy rainfall has raised visibility issues and prompted warnings for motorists.

As the situation develops, officials continue to monitor road conditions closely.
